Assemblymember Chris Holden Introduces Bill to Make Pet Adoption Easier for Active Duty Military Service Members

For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA –Assemblymember Chris Holden introduced legislation, AB 121 that waives the pet adoption fee for Active Duty Military Service Members.

“Given how profound the emotional and physical benefits of having a pet can be, we should make pet adoption as easy as possible for our country’s heroes,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden.

As of January 2020, the adoption fee for veterans is already waived. AB 121 would expand current law to waive the adoption fee for a dog or cat to an active duty military service member who present to the public animal shelter a current military identification.
