Current California sophomore and junior high school students are invited to apply for the California Legislative Black Caucus African-American Leaders of Tomorrow Program.

The African-American Leaders for Tomorrow Program (AALT) is a four-day long residential summer program that is held on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills.

Sixty students will be hand-selected to receive leadership training and attend workshops on topics such as college experience, career development and financial literacy. Students will reside on the CSUDH campus. Housing, meals, program materials, and transportation during the conference will be provided at no cost to participants.

The deadline to apply is Friday, June 5, 2015.

(Sacramento) – California State Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-San Rafael) hosted a “Civics Camp” at Santa Rosa Junior College to invite people of all ages to get involved in their communities.  Local leaders spoke about the importance of civic engagement and how to actively participate in shaping state and local policies and legislation.  Watch this Assembly Access Video hear more about Civics Camp and making a difference.

Assemblymember Levine Host Civics Camp in Santa Rosa

(Santa Rosa, CA) – California State Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-San Rafael) hosted an event aimed at getting young people involved in their communities.  The event called, “Civics Camp,” was held at Santa Rosa Junior College and included local leaders who shared their experiences and knowledge with attendees. It was a chance to engage and promote the exchange of ideas about how to make communities better and create opportunities for civic engagement. Please join representatives from the State Water Resources Board, the City of Pasadena Department of Water and Power and me for a community meeting to discuss our state's severe water crisis. Together we will learn ways to outsmart the drought!
