Assemblymember Chris Holden Accepting Applications for 2019 Young Legislators Program

Now in its fourth year, the Young Legislators Program, offers high school seniors in the 41st Assembly District a front row seat to the public policy and political arena.

“I’m excited to launch the fourth annual Young Legislators Program for the 41st Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden. “I have no doubt this program will again have a lasting impact on the students and I look forward to meeting next year’s Young Legislators.”

2018 Young Legislators

During the six month program, students will meet once a month to become better advocates on issues they care about, gain valuable leadership skills, and learn about the legislative process. The program concludes with a free trip to northern California to visit the facebook headquarters and the State Capitol.

Sacramento (CA) - Assemblymember Chris Holden’s College Athletes Civil Rights Act of 2018, Assembly Bill 2747, passed the California State Assembly Committee on Higher Education today. The recently amended version of Assembly Bill 2747 allows college athletes to receive earnings through a degree completion fund, and creates safeguards for college athletes from abuses by college coaches, trainers, and other athletic staff.

Sacramento, CA – In the Annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony in Sacramento, Assemblymember Chris Holden recognized Holocaust survivor Isabelle Teresa Huber of Claremont on the Assembly Floor. This year marks the 73rd Anniversary of the Holocaust – the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.

Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Chris Holden’s legislation to extend tax relief for individuals participating in a turf removal water conservation program, Assembly Bill 2283, passed the Assembly Committee on Revenue and Taxation today with a 6-0 vote.

“Water conservation shouldn’t be taxed,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden. “California barely got out of the drought last year and we’re already experiencing a shortage of rainfall this year.”

Pasadena, CA – In Celebration of Women’s History Month in March 2018, Assemblymember Chris Holden will recognize the 41st Assembly District’s Woman of the Year and Women of Distinction on Thursday March 15th at his Annual District Office Spring Open House. The women are being recognized for their service that has a made a positive impact in the community.

Out of 70 nominations from throughout the district, South Pasadena Mayor Pro Tem Marina Khubesrian, M.D. was named the 2018 Woman of the Year for the 41st Assembly District.
