Assemblymember Chris Holden has named his father, Nate Holden, as the 41st Assembly District Veteran of the Year as the elder Holden celebrates his 90th birthday.
Nate Holden, who has been in public service much of his life, served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany and Italy in the Military Police Corps during World War II.
He served more than 30 years in the public sector as an Assistant Chief Deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn for 12 years, a California State Senator representing the 30th Senate District from 1974-1978 where he authored more than 70 bills that became law and as a Los Angeles City Councilman representing the 10th District from 1987-2003.
He is retired from elected office and is currently a hearing officer for the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
A reception honoring Nate Holden is scheduled for Saturday June 15 in Los Angeles.
