AB 252 Stem And AB 288 Concurrent Enrollment
Sacramento – Assembly Majority Leader Chris Holden’s education bills to expand opportunities for students in underserved communities came off the Assembly suspense file today. The bills – AB 288 Concurrent Enrollment and AB 252 Advanced Placement - S.T.E.M. now move to the Assembly floor for a vote next week.
“These two measures could provide much-needed opportunity for expanding California students’ access to higher education and providing access to science, technology, engineering and math courses,” stated Assemblymember Holden. “Increasing opportunity to take AP courses in the STEM fields, especially for underrepresented minority students, ensures that California’s workforce will be diverse and well-prepared for the developments that spur technology.”
Under AB 252, students throughout California would have access to advanced coursework in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Computer Science classes.
Holden’s AB 288 would create a partnership between high schools and community colleges to allow students to take college-level courses at their high schools or on college campuses.
