I am pleased to announce that Assembly Bill 1032 (AB 1032), The Wildfire Trauma and Resiliency Act, has been signed into law! This new legislation provides urgent mental health visits to survivors in LA wildfire-affected areas, ensuring families can focus on recovery without the burden of limited visits.
What AB 1032 Does:
- Requires health plans and insurers to cover up to 12 additional visits with licensed behavioral health providers, in or out of network.
- Coverage applies to residents of counties under wildfire emergency declarations.
- Takes effect immediately.
Guidance for Survivors:
If you have been impacted by the recent Los Angeles wildfires and are eligible, we encourage you to contact your health plan. We are committed to ensuring your rights under this new law are upheld. You can also contact our district office at (626) 351-1917.
Why This Matters:
The Los Angeles wildfires have devastated families, destroying homes and financial security. AB 1032 ensures that survivors have the breathing room they need to stabilize, begin rebuilding, and receive the mental support they need to recover. We urge all eligible residents to take full advantage of this relief.
We extend our sincere thanks to Governor Gavin Newsom for signing this critical measure into law and Speaker Rivas for the partnership in making this happen.
Together, we are committed to helping our communities recover and rebuild.
