Assemblymember Chris Holden Commends CalPERS Decision to Reduce Investments in Turkey

Sacramento, CA – The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) made a decision that significantly reduced their exposure to investments currently held in Turkey. The action translates into over a $100 million reduction in CALPERS currency and equity exposure to Turkish issued securities, which brings the total current exposure to under $2 million.

Mijares Restaurant Named 41st Assembly District’s Small Business of the Year

R-lene de Lang, Tina Jimenez, and Tom Recendez – co-owners of Mijares, accepted the recognition during the annual Small Business of the Year luncheon organized by the California Small Business Association.

Assemblymember Holden’s Social Justice Bills Pass Senate Committees

Sacramento (CA) – Yesterday, four of Assemblymember Chris Holden’s bills passed Senate Policy Committees. The package of social justice bills that passed include The Upward Mobility Act, AB 105; use of force training for private security, AB 229; transportation contracts for disadvantaged communities, AB 349; and real estate appraisal reform, AB 948.

Sacramento, CA – Today, Assemblymember Chris Holden’s legislation, AB 229 which establishes use of force trainings for private security, and AB 948 which address discrimination in the real estate appraisal process both passed with bipartisan support in the Senate Committee on Business, Professions, and Economic Development.
