Sacramento – For the 41^st Assembly District’s 2018 “Nonprofit of the Year,” Assemblymember Chris Holden has chosen to honor the Flintridge Center, a nonprofit organization based in Pasadena that supports formerly incarcerated adults and at-risk youth to break the cycle of poverty and violence through community planning, innovation and action.

“It is my pleasure to recognize the Flintridge Center as the 41^st Assembly District’s Nonprofit of the Year,” said Assemblymember Holden. “Working with a network of service providers and public agencies to change lives, Flintridge Center’s successful reintegration services should be modeled throughout the state.”

Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Chris Holden’s legislation, Assembly Bill 3146, that would have created transparency measures on pollution from idle and abandoned oil and gas wells that are located in close proximity to homes and businesses, was killed by the oil lobby last week.

Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Chris Holden’s bill to study transit pass programs for students, Assembly Bill 2304, passed with bipartisan support in the Assembly Floor today. This bill requires the University of California Institute of Transportation Studies to conduct a study on the prevalence of student transit pass programs and their effectiveness.

SACRAMENTO--A coalition of state legislators and advocates today announced a package of criminal justice reform legislation affecting employment opportunities for Californians with prior convictions. The proposals by Assemblymembers David Chiu (D-San Francisco), Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino), Chris Holden (D-Pasadena), and Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) will prohibit the majority of State agencies that provide professional licenses from using arrest or conviction records as the sole basis to deny professional licenses to Californians with non-violent offenses.

Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Chris Holden’s legislation that requires idle and abandoned oil and gas wells be tested for hydrocarbon emissions, Assembly Bill 3146, passed the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources. This bill also requires results from these tested oil and gas wells to be collected and publically reported by the Department of Conservation.

“There are over 25,000 oil and gas wells across California, many close to where people live, that can emit harmful chemicals into our air undetected,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden.  “We need to know how much and how often these wells are emitting pollutants in order to protect public health.”

Pasadena, CA – Assemblymember Chris Holden nominated Pasadena local Thomas D. Seifert to represent the Arroyo Seco Tributary on the newly established Upper Los Angeles River and Tributaries Working Group.
