The climate crisis is here: rising temperatures, fewer inches of rain, and an increase in wildfires, all of which are here to stay. But, that doesn’t mean we are frozen in motion. There are still many courses of action we can take to mitigate the effects of climate change.
I, along with my Assembly colleagues, are working on legislation to address these new challenges. I would like to highlight my new bill, AB 2446, which would create a pilot project for zero-emissions housing on state property and establish a Housing Carbon Credit Program (HCCP) as a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction strategy for the housing sector. Additionally, I have introduced AB 1919, which would seek to have transit agencies across our state provide fare-free transit passes to youth 25 years or younger. This bill would make California the first in the nation to comprehensively provide access to transit to its youth.
