Assemblymember Chris Holden Hosts Transportation Hearing “Advancing Sustainability in Regional Transportation Projects”

Pasadena (CA) – As chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Regional Transportation Solutions, Assemblymember Chris Holden hosted local hearing, "Advancing Sustainability in Regional Transportation Projects" to discuss and address timely transportation issues for the region and state.

“California faces diverse transportation needs,” said Assemblymember Holden. “The Select Committee on Regional Transportation Solutions serves as a mechanism to bring local partners together to foster dialogue and regional cooperation regarding the most pressing transit needs facing local governments.”

Participating panelists discussed how to advance sustainability goals in current and future transportation projects — from creating sustainable communities to fixing our roads and highways — while advancing the economy and creating jobs.

Assemblymembers in the Select Committee on Regional Transportation Solutions participating in the hearing included Assemblymember Chris Holden (AD – 41), Assemblymember Ed Chau (AD – 49), Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (AD – 52), and Assemblymember Todd Gloria (AD – 78).

Topics for the first panel, Sustainable Communities, included Complete Streets, Active Transportation, and the 710 North Corridor. Topics for the second panel, Jobs/Economic Benefits, included fiscal impacts of transit oriented development, trade corridor enhancement program, and jobs creation and infrastructure improvements. The third panel discussed projects receiving funding from the latest transportation funding package, Senate Bill 1.
