Pasadena (CA) – Assemblymember Chris Holden presented $1,500 in grocery store gift cards for families at Flintridge Center to be used for Thanksgiving dinner. The gift cards were provided by the California Water Association, in partnership with East Pasadena Water and California American Water.
“We’re fortunate to have community partners like the California Water Association, East Pasadena Water, and California American Water that are able to help families in the 41st Assembly District with their Thanksgiving dinner,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden.
The gift cards will benefit families who are currently in or graduated from Flintridge Center’s Apprenticeship Preparation Program. The program prepares and assists previously incarcerated and gang affiliated community members in qualifying for careers in the construction trades by providing them with information, experience and skills necessary to be successful.
“When families are experiencing poverty, holidays can be very stressful,” said Jaylene Moseley, Flintridge Center President. “We are deeply grateful for Assemblymember Holden’s support of our community’s families.”
The giveaway is as part of the California Water Association’s Statewide “Operation Gobble” Program – a joint philanthropic venture between California’s investor-owned water companies, local nonprofit organizations and policymakers to distribute turkeys and donations to families during Thanksgiving. Assemblymember Holden will give away another $500 dollars in gift cards to seniors in the 41st Assembly District by the end of this week.
