Sacramento, CA – As part of an annual recognition of Women’s History Month in the State Capitol, Assemblymember Chris Holden announces the City of San Dimas, San Dimas Chamber Board Chair, Marilyn Sparks as a Woman of Distinction for the 41st Assembly District.
“Marilyn is dedicated to ensuring her community thrives,” said Assemblymember Holden. “She is passionate about small business resilience and is always willing to help others. We need more people like her in our communities.”
Marilyn currently is an Executive Board Member for both the Glendora and San Dimas Chambers of Commerce. Marilyn has held the role of Board Member with the San Dimas Chamber of Commerce since 2017 and as the Board Chair in 2018 and 2021. Examples of her work include chairing the annual fundraiser, the Wine and Beer Walk, the Bonita Unified Candidates Forum, and Chair of the ambassador outreach group. She has also served as a Los Angeles County Insurance Commissioner for the 5th District since April 2019. Marilyn has volunteered with veteran organizations helping females transition out of the military and into the civilian workforce by helping them with resume writing skills and recently chaired the Glendora Yellow Ribbon Committee. Marilyn belongs to LIFT Business Alliance which is comprised of dedicated, entrepreneurial women in and around the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire, who work to lift each other up by supporting and promoting one another’s business. She has served in leadership positions with the San Gabriel Valley area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts organizations. She is also the past president of the local American Legion Auxiliary. Most recently, she has joined the Board of Directors of McKinley, a leader in compassionately transforming the lives of youth and families through innovative education, counseling and social services.
