Sacramento, CA – As part of an annual recognition of Women’s History Month in the State Capitol, Assemblymember Chris Holden announces Cher Ofstedahl as a 2022 Woman of Distinction for the 41st Assembly District.
“Cher is a courageous and a highly impactful leader,” said Assemblymember Holden. “She provides unwavering support to the youth she works with and is truly helping them believe in themselves and lead successful lives.”
Cher leads a nonprofit agency that serves over 200 children and families daily in foster care, residential treatment and through an adoption agency. She advocates for children in need after experiencing her own childhood trauma. Her firsthand experience gives her unique insight into the needs of abused and neglected children. She has been with Trinity for over 20 years and became the organization’s first female CEO in January 2020. Cher has provided exceptional leadership for the Children’s Foundation of America, which she founded. In 2021, it assisted 3,384 foster or at-risk children and 24 organizations through programs such as Holiday Heroes, Back-to-School Drive, and Birthday in a Bag. The Foundation also awarded nearly $90,000 in scholarships to former foster children. Cher also serves on the Human Relations Committee for the City of Claremont that oversees their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Additionally, she also serves on the Policy and Practice Commission for the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), the Juvenile Justice Steering Committee for the California Alliance for Children & Families and she is a member of the Advisory Board for the Design Thinking Department for the University of California, Riverside. Cher holds a master’s degree in Ethical Leadership from Claremont Lincoln University, a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Arizona State Global University and post-graduate certifications from Cornell University and Harvard Graduate School of Education.
