Pasadena, CA — On Saturday, December 31, 2022 the Clergy Community Coalition (CCC) and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA) will host the second annual vigil. The event will be held in partnership with the Tournament of Roses and the City of Pasadena, and Assemblymember Chris Holden and begin on the lawn of the Tournament of Roses headquarters, at 391 Orange Grove Blvd. on Dec. 31 at 12:30 p.m. It is open to the general public and no registration is required. In the event of rain, they have secured the Rose Room at the Tournament of Roses House for the 12:30-1:00pm portion of the prayer event.
The Clergy will join together for a breakfast hosted by Maranatha High School prior at 10am. The prayer event will start on the lawn of the Tournament of Roses headquarters at Wrigley Mansion, at 12:00pm and will include a Land Welcome by leaders of the Gabrieleno (Tongva) Band of Mission Indians and prayers by several local clergy.
“Each new year, The Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game usher in opportunity for the world to celebrate together; new hopes and great expectations for peace and goodwill,” said Assemblymember Holden. “Starting the year in prayer and gratitude across the different faiths demonstrates our unity and belief that even a global pandemic would not deter our community celebration from marching on!”
As part of the program, participants will walk in procession up Orange Grove Blvd. to the corner of Colorado Blvd. where the major grandstands for the Rose Parade are located.
Faith Leaders Unite came about through a collaboration last year between local clergy, elected officials and Tournament of Roses leaders who agreed that it was proper and important to bring clergy together ahead of the world-renowned Rose Parade to bless the community and the event in this manner.
