Assemblymember Chris Holden Assists with Legislation Addressing Gasoline Price Volatility in California

For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Holden supported SBX1-2 (Skinner), which strengthens the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) ability to establish accountability and tracking related to gasoline prices. Additionally, the measure allows the CEC to establish a maximum gross gasoline refining margin as well as the authority to issue penalties on oil companies that fail to play by the rules.

“The people are hurting and need relief. This legislation will go a long way towards getting the answers we need. This bill requires transparency and accountability to ensure that consumers are protected going forward. The hardworking families deserve answers to the outrageous profits these oil companies are generating at the expense of Californians,” said Assemblymember Holden.

SBX1-2 passed the Assembly Floor, where the full body deliberated the measure. The bill heads to Governor Newsom’s desk for signature.
