Sacramento, CA – For the 41st Assembly District’s 2017 “Veteran of the Year,” Assemblymember Chris Holden has chosen to honor Monrovia Councilmember Larry J. Spicer, a veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1994.
Sacramento, CA – Today, the California Legislature passed the Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget, the final agreement between the legislature and Governor Jerry Brown. The budget increases spending to $125 billion but continues to grow reserves, including the Rainy Day Fund to $9.9 billion. Assemblymember Chris Holden released the following statement:

Sacramento, CA – Twenty-five small businesses from throughout the 41st Assembly District were nominated this year for consideration and in a ceremony in Sacramento yesterday, Assemblymember Chris Holden honored La Verne resident and local area Sport Clips franchise owner Arif Taj as the “Small Business of the Year” for the 41st Assembly District.
Sacramento, CA – This week, six of Assemblymember Chris Holden’s bills passed off the Assembly Floor. These bills help low income students, enable more housing construction, protect energy customers and create solutions that help all Californians. Ten of Assemblymember Holden’s bills are ready to advance to the State Senate.
Los Angeles, CA – In a historic vote on Thursday morning, the Los Angeles Metro Board of Directors passed a motion that drops the Tunnel Alternative as a solution for the SR 710 North Study area. Instead, the motion recommends the Transportation System Management/Transportation Demand Management Alternative for the 710 North Study Area and allocates remaining measure R funds for new mobility improvement projects in the designated area.
“I welcome today’s vote as it moves us closer to implementing 21st century transportation solutions to relieve traffic congestion, connect communities, and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions,” said Assemblymember Chris Holden (AD – 41). “The 710 North corridor cities will have the opportunity to implement solutions that work for their respective communities, but it is vital now more than ever to come together and implement a regional solution that benefits everyone.”

“I applaud Governor Brown for restoring the one million in funds for the Pasadena Playhouse renovation projects that were cut in January’s budget proposal. Since that time, I worked directly with the Pasadena Playhouse and the Governor’s office to secure the original funding amount. Thankfully our work led to the Playhouse receiving $413,000 earlier this month to pay off the money already spent. I’m proud to support the Playhouse, the official State Theater of California, as it celebrates its 100th Anniversary.
The Governor’s May revision is the next building block in finalizing the budget process. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the legislature and the governor to reach an agreement that is not only once again responsible, balanced, and on-time, but also a budget that protects California’s progressive gains and persists in meeting the challenges we face.”
